How Far Does Your Money Go?How far does your money go? How thin can you stretch it? How can you get more bang for your buck? I'll tell you how you can make your money go further; spend it on overseas service projects and missions. African relief projects, child sponsorships, refugee care, etc.Last night (or perhaps I should say, this morning) at about 12:22 AM, I finished up my most recent design project. This one wasn't either desktop or web based software. This was a newsletter for a friend of mine who works as a missionary in Moldova. She wanted a newsletter to send out to her supporters here in the United States, telling them that for $10.00, they can send a child to summer camp in Moldova. TEN DOLLARS. That's really remarkable. Here in the states, the most inexpensive camp I'm aware of is at least a hundred dollars. But for ten dollars, you could give a child the gift of a week at camp. It's no surprise, really. I have other friends who have started a child sponsorship program in Haiti: His Hands For Haiti. How much does their sponsorship program cost? Here's what their website says: Quote:
(be sure to check the site for the most up-to-date information.) Here's another one: a few years ago, some friends and I created a music CD with a combination of Sudanese and English music, to sell as a charity for Sudanese refugees. We sold the CDs at $15.00 apiece, and each CD sold paid for 150 refugees to eat for one day. Amazing. So...if you're wondering how to make your money go further, the answer, pure and simple, is...don't spend it on yourself. Find some worthy cause, caring for the needs of others, and your money will go much further! Oh yeah.
