Tubing On Hogan Pond...Last week was vacation week, but I guess it just wasn't enough, because I'm still vacationing this week, in between going down to Stow each morning to teach Family Bible Time.Yesterday when we got back, Becky told me that I was invited to come down to their camp on Hogan Pond, which was really nice, considering what a hot hot day it was yesterday. I was not liking the idea of sitting around working on my computer all afternoon. So I went to the Field's camp. Glen tried to convince me to go tubing ("I'll give you an easy ride..." yeah, right. ) The thing is, where I'm practically blind without my glasses, I really hate being very far away from shore without my glasses, and I definitely couldn't wear my glasses tubing. So I just rode in the boat and watched Glen try to flip people out of the tube. Then I got to see Glen get flipped out twice, so that was good. ![]() We had a much bigger group at youth group than I expected, since a bunch of our girls were over at Camp Berea for Volleyball Camp. And they had a little birthday party for me, with cake and ice cream. They tried to surprise me, by having all the lights off and shouting "surprise!", but as I was coming down to the room, I was thinking "Those crazy teens, they're hiding in the dark trying to scare people..." So, unfortunately, when they shouted "surprise", I didn't react at all... ![]() After youth group Thom wanted me to listen to some stuff he'd written for the guitar - some really nice music, has kind of a classical guitar sound to it. I need to find him some of my classical guitar CDs to listen to. We ended up talking for quite awhile about music. I want him to come over and use my recording studio, but alas, it's currently not functional... Anyway, today I'm taking Ozzie and Jake to Flagship for a matinee (once again, no work this afternoon!) and then we're going to head over to Turner to cheer on the girls in their evening volleyball games. Should be a fun time. Family Bible Time is going really well. Each of the teens that are responsible for part of the program are doing a great job filling their responsibilities, and the kids/teens/adults are really listening well to the Bible Lessons. Today I'm teaching about the feeding of the five thousand (so they'll finally find out why their two teams for the week are "fish" and "bread" ) Tomorrow it's the story of Gideon, including the section about the loaf of barley bread, which rarely gets taught.Posted On Aug 11, 2005 at 3:37 AM On Aug 11, 2005 Beth wrote: I can't believe you didn't go tubing. It is so much fun. It's called pretty safe thrill seeking in my book ![]() Doug Replied: yes, well, we all enjoy different things. I've never really been a fan of that particular thrill, because I like to be able to see what it is that's thrilling me so much. ![]() On Aug 12, 2005 Beth wrote: Well, to be honest I can't really see a thing when I'm being flipped up in the air and then crashing into a lake...but it's still fun!;-0 :-D ;-) Doug Replied: ha! Well, you probably wouldn't enjoy this tube then, because it's one of those giant tubes that three people sit in, and they say it's mighty hard to flip. (Although I did see a couple good flips) On Aug 13, 2005 Laura wrote: Aw come on Doug - as long as the guy driving the boat wasn't named Ira or Ramsey you should have been quite safe ;-) Doug Replied: *snickers*
