Vacation On Schoodic Lake!

Well, vacation at Schoodic Lake was quite pleasant, although I was informed by a friend of mine who lives in the area that a developer has put in plans with the Brownville Town Office to put in condos and an amusement park, so if that passes, I don't know how many more peaceful summer vacations there will be up here! Brian says the plans are actually not for Schoodic Lake, but for Norton Pond, which is a much smaller body of water right by the lake.

The first day was amazingly relaxing. I didn't turn on my laptop once the whole day. In the morning I went for a bike ride with Brian and some of the kids, then Brian and I went out in the motor boat, and the motor died so we had to row back in to camp, then we went swimming. Right there that's three ways of using my muscles that I haven't done all summer: biking, rowing, and swimming. So I was afraid I would be stiff and sore, but everything is good.

I also got in quite a bit of reading. Brian and I went out in the paddle boat and just floated about aimlessly in the middle of the lake reading. Plus I read in the evening, and during the rather violent storm that sprung up suddenly in the middle of the day. I managed to get through a book about 650 pages long (can anyone guess what it was? ) Anyway, I am pleased to say I was able to predict with great accuracy what was going to happen in the book, and the author went in the direction I hoped she would. But I won't write that up...yet...because I don't want to spoil it for anyone!

The second day we had some problems; the drain from the kitchen sink was backing up, so we had to dig up the drain pipe and see if we could figure out what was wrong. Very messy and smelly.

Both Tuesday and Wednesday Brian and I took trips into town in hopes of checking our email (and, let's be honest, Brian was desperate to get back to my Quote Puzzler!) We had some difficulties with the library computers, both in Brownville and Milo, and could only access half the sites we wanted to (and Brian didn't get to do the puzzle!).
