National Weather Service

The National Weather Service says: "Have A Nice Day!". Well, okay, it's not quite so personal as that...

I've been watching National Weather Service predictions for Saturday in Stratton, Maine, because I'm taking our youth group up to Cranberry Peak (part of the Bigelow Mountain Range) to spend the day hiking.

At the beginning of the week they were saying 50% chance of rain, partly cloudy, chance of thunderstorms. Every day those predictions have been getting better and better. Now there is not even a mention of rain or thunderstorms. The current forecast is succinct and to the point:

Quote:
Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. Light and variable wind.

Sounds like a nice day for a hike. Currently it looks like we've got 13 people going on the hike, although there are a couple who have signed up but I have my doubts if they'll actually show up.

We're heading out tomorrow evening, spending the night in Kingfield (the boys at Brian and Kathy's house, the girls at the Kingfield Baptist Church), and then hiking on Saturday - hopefully hitting the trail around 8:30 or 9:00.

My only concern about the trip right now is that our boy with Crohns has decided to go with us; I hope it doesn't turn out to be a mistake for him to come with us.
