A Finite Simple Group Of Order TwoThe question of the day: A group of math geeks singing acapella love songs...does it get any better than this?![]() A Finite Simple Group Of Order Two This is by Matt Salamone, a member of the "Klein Four Group", and it is just filled with mathematical references (especially a lot of group theory) You can tell that the audience in this video is also made up of math geeks, because they're all laughing at all the right moments... For anyone who is curious, here's a list of the mathematical terms used within the song: path, smooth, continuous, upper bound, chains, Axiom of Choice, relation, well-defined, function, prove my proposition, finite simple group of order two, identity, tensor, loss of generality, assume, quotient out, image, map into, one-to-one, stable equivalence, principal bundle, wedge, two-forms, complexified, simply connected, open, dense, directed system, finite limit, kernel, rank-one, domain, image, zeroes, operator, class, mirror pair, forgetful functors, proved my proposition, associative, free, by corollary, purely inseparable, Q. E. D On a completely different note...In case anyone doesn't know, I'm not going to be around much the next few weeks. Starting this week, until July 2, I'm going to be house-sitting for Jonathan and Melody down in Cape. Then, on July 2, I'm going to be heading for Camp Good News for a week. After that I get a week off, and then I'm off to Camp Berea. That's it for summer camps this year; I'm just doing two weeks. So, if you want to get in touch with me in the next month, your best bet is to use email, as I will be checking that regularly, but will only get my phone messages once or twice per week. Doug Replied: after you've watched it, watch it again and watch the girl sitting on the stairs in the background...I think she's about to split her sides laughing. Maybe I should play it for them to help them relax! I've sent the link out to various math team coaches, who should appreciate it! Doug Replied: It would definitely help ME relax! Just so ya know, The Klein Four Group is supposed to be coming out with a CD this summer. On Jun 13, 2005 BackStage wrote: Shouldn't Mr. T say "I pity the foo..."? Brian Twitchell sent this to me today, but I couldn't open it." They really enjoyed it:-) Doug Replied: Ha!
