Steve Green Concert, Hosea, RainLast night my folks and I went to Freeport, ME to see Steve Green in concert. The concert was held in the gymnasium of the Pine Tree Academy, which was a change from the concert hosted there last year, which was in a tent. The concert was okay, but didn't compare with last year's concert - Michael Card was amazing last year...even in a tent! ![]() For me, the most memorable moment of the concert last night was when Steve Green started talking, and then stopped and said (in apparent disbelief) "Is that rain??" The rain was pouring down outside, and was making a loud roaring noise on the roof of the gymnasium. My dad and I both thought that a big blower had started up somewhere - that's how loud the rain was. But it was memorable, because it got me started thinking about Hosea 6:3, which says: "So let us know, let us press on to know the Lord. His going forth is as certain as the dawn. And He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain watering the earth." A beautiful verse which compares God's faithfulness to the dawn, and to the coming of the rains in the spring. There is another verse (I think in Isaiah or Jeremiah) which compares God's faithfulness to the stars as well. So I sort of put all that together today, and came up with this: Watering Our Souls You are as certain as the sunrise You are as faithful as the stars And You will come to us like spring rain Watering our souls, watering our souls I think that's going to be the chorus of a larger song, but I haven't worked out any more than that. But I figured I ought to put together a rough recording of what I've got while I have the chance...I won't have much access to my home recording studio for the next few weeks. So...here's a rough demo. Maybe next month I'll put together something a little less staticky, and replace it, but this is the best I've got for now!
