I Miss My Recording StudioI miss my recording studio. A few days ago I wrote a new melody for "Our Great Savior" (with slightly modified words in the chorus), and I really want to make a recording of it, and try out some harmony lines. But there sits my computer with its recording and sequencing software, and a fried CPU. ![]() To make matters worse, I've had two emails this week from people (complete strangers) who were inquiring about the hymn "Complete In Thee" and the tune that I learned for it. So I'd really like to be able to crank out a recording and post it on my blog. Sooner or later I'll replace the fried computer, but fried chicken is more in my budget than unfried computer at the moment so everything I write I'm practicing pretty regularly to make sure I don't lose the tune. Maybe at some point I'll get someone to record me singing/playing some stuff on a cassette down at the church, so I can at least have a hard copy. ![]() So, let's see...what have I written this year? Do Not Fear (based on Isaiah 43) The Lord Is Good To All (based on Psalm 145) Watering Our Souls (based on various passages) Let Every Sinner's Knee Be Bowed (based on various passages) Hymn Of Grateful Praise (to be sung with Jeorge, based on various hymns) Our Great Savior (old hymn, new melody) A few weeks ago Jeorge and David and I did "Hymn Of Grateful Praise" for Sunday School - it was a big hit...people really enjoyed hearing us do a lot of very familiar songs (Jesus Loves The Little Children, Jesus Loves Me, What A Friend We Have In Jesus, Hark The Herald Angels Sing, and For The Beauty Of The Earth) all to the same melody. It was interesting to see how, even though there really was only one new "gag" in the whole skit, everyone still felt like it was fresh and new. Mrs. Whitney told me that Jeorge should come visit every week. Which, of course would spoil the feeling of "fresh and new" that we get because Jeorge doesn't come visit every week! ![]() Posted On Oct 1, 2005 at 4:32 AM
