GoDaddy, non-Western (Latin) messages

GoDaddy has an interesting feature in their email system - a Non-Western message filter. This filter is designed to filter out messages which don't use the Latin alphabet (Russian, Chinese, Arabic, etc).

GoDaddy describes the feature as follows:

Quote:
By default, your e-mail client accepts only e-mail messages written in a Western (Latin) language, which is based on the Latin alphabet and represents languages such as French, German, and English. To accept e-mail messages written in a language that is not based on the Latin alphabet, such as Arabic, Japanese, or Greek, select Yes.

Nice idea. Unfortunately, it often kicks back emails from people who are writing to you in English, but for some reason the filter thinks it's a non-Latin alphabet email. Thus, your friends and business contacts may complain: I tried to email you, but I got a message back that the user will not accept non-western language.

Nice. Not very conducive to good business relations. So, you're probably wondering how to fix this problem, without having to go through the headache of contacting GoDaddy tech support. Right?

Well then, here you go...

1. Go to the GoDaddy website.
2. Log into your GoDaddy account.
3. Find and click the link/menu to "My Email Account"
4. From there find the email address(es) which are causing the problem. Click on the email address.
5. Now you will be on a setup/properties screen for that email address. Find the line which says "Accept non-Western (Latin) Messages?"
6. Select "Yes"
7. Click "Save Settings"

There you go! You're all done. The only problem is that now you'll likely start getting spam in Russian, Chinese and who knows what else!

If you get sick of getting the extra spam, you can go through the process again, changing step Six to "No". Once you do that, though, you've got to tell all your friends and business acquaintances whose emails get bumped back to change the way they send email!
