Let Every Sinner's Knee Be Bowed

Nate is back in town for a short vacation; after a busy summer including three weeks of camp ministry, a missions trip, and trying to keep up with youth group stuff, his church insisted he should take a weekend off. So he's in town, and we got together for lunch yesterday. Had a really nice time visiting with him. Swapping youth group stories, etc.

Plus I got him to help me out with some music. I think I mentioned in an earlier post that my music computer is in the computer hospital. Well, now it's gone on to computer heaven. So I can't record any music until I replace it. Very frustrating when I'm working on a song, and want to try out a harmony line. Typically I would just record the guitar and lead vocal, then track the harmony over it, so I can listen to the two parts together. Now I can't do that. So, since I started working on a new song yesterday, when Nate arrived I taught it to him, and had him sing the lead while I tried singing the harmony I had written. I think it sounded alright.

Nate said it sounded like "a hymn, only not really like a hymn...like a modern hymn." Which is good, because that's really what I was trying for.

Anyway, here are the words...and obviously...there's no sound file to listen to.

Let Every Sinner's Knee Be Bowed
Let every creature that has breath
Rejoice in one accord
Let every human tongue confess
That Jesus Christ is Lord

Let every sinner's knee be bowed
And every tongue confess
That name exalted over all
The name of Jesus Christ

Let every mortal now rejoice
And cast aside all fear
Immanuel, our God with us
In flesh has now drawn near

Let every saint who dwells in flesh
Take on the mind of Christ
May humble hearts be filled with joy
And in His joy find rest

Well, there you have it. I'll be sure to put down a recording of it as soon as I have a system on which to do so.

Tommorow is Labor Day, and J&M and I are hiking Avery Peak. National Weather Service is saying we're going to have a good day for it; a couple days ago they were saying partly cloudy, but now they're saying: Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 68. Calm wind becoming north between 6 and 9 mph.

Sounds like a good day. I'll take lots of pictures of this one; they say Avery Peak has some of the best views in the state, second only to Katahdin.

Happy hiking!

ps thanks for the link, that was wicked funny

Doug Replied: you're welcome! I just knew you'd like that.
