What's Up With Doug's Blog?
What's up with Doug's Blog? I'll tell you what's up. It got a face lift. But, unless you are one of my faithful readership (all five of you
) you probably didn't realize anything is different.Here's the deal. A few days ago my brother started his own blog. He was using one of the standard blogging sites, but as we talked about his blog, realized that it didn't exactly do everything he wanted - he didn't like the way it handled visitor comments, and he wanted to be able to do some funky stuff with the index of entries, and how they're displayed.
As we talked about it, I started developing this new blog customized for Brian, and as I worked on it, I realized that the features he wanted were features I wanted as well. Thus, there's a whole new look to my blog.
The feature I like most about this new version of my blog is the Bible Index page, which displays a list of Books of the Bible, and blog entries which are about verses in those books. This is going to be helpful in preparing messages for church, youth group, etc; let's say I'm preparing a lesson in First Peter (I'll be teaching through I Peter this fall in youth group), and I want to see if Brian has any good sermon illustrations for that passage - I'll just pop over to his blog, hit his Bible Index page, and scan through anything he might have on I Peter. Nice, huh?
This is still a work in progress; as Brian and I have more ideas of things we want to do with this, I'm sure it'll develop over time. If you run into any quirks or bugs, please let me know!

Keep in mind that I have no idea of what kind of work is involved. It would just be cool to be part of a "Bible Blog" family.

Doug Replied: I'm not going to open this up for "just anyone" to do a blog here, but you're not "just anyone", so I think we can work that out. Sometime soon I'll set you up one and let you play with it, and then if you decide you don't want to keep it, we'll just dump it.
