A Random AssortmentWell, it's about time I posted something new here. This will be a bit random (yet oh so interesting!)![]() First, if you didn't hear, I broke my glasses last week, and spent a couple days with my glasses held together with a paperclip. It was pretty funny - you always hear people joking about the "geeks" who have their glasses taped together...I'm not saying I'm not a geek, but hardly anyone noticed my glasses were broken until I pointed it out to them. Wal*Mart's vision center didn't have any frames that fit, but they were able to widen a frame and it works just fine. While I was there I found a flyer talking about eye injuries among sports players. Did you know that every 13 minutes someone goes to the emergency room with a sports related eye injury? That's for you, Beth. And while I'm thinking of it, my sympathies to Beth, who is out for the rest of the year with an ACL injury. ![]() I got an email last week from a school teacher in Bogata Colombia. He wants to publish an article about Tile Puzzler. I find that a bit funny, since the site has only been in existance for a month, and hasn't even been finished yet. But I told him he could go ahead and publish. ![]() I got an email this morning from someone who got caught up in a Nigerian scam, and wanted some help. Here's my reply: Anti Spam Log - Money Order Scam Added Note: I just got a reply back from her - she didn't consumate the deal (*phew*) and will be contacting the FBI today. Tonight I'm going to Carthage to perform at a Christmas Party. I'm taking Tommy H. and Bobby S. with me. Tommy's going to play the guitar for me, and Bobby is going to play the bass guitar. And Katie's coming to be our cheering squad. ![]() Finally...late last night I got to go to an advance screening of Mel Gibson's Apocalypto. Very violent and intense movie. None of it was in English - all in Mayan languages with English subtitles. I have a feeling this film is going to spark a different kind of controversy than Gibson's Passion of the Christ. I think this is going to spark controversy over the native cultures vs the European culture that overran them. (Aside from black eye injuries, because I LOVE black eyes) ![]() Doug Replied: yep...I'm with you...anything to do with the eyes makes me cringe. But I don't love black eyes. ![]()
