Birthdays, Web Links, and Some MusicHey everyone! I have a few links that might be of interest, but first, let me say...happy birthday (a day late) to Rita Salls, one of our retired missionaries, and happy birthday (a day early) to my nephew Daniel, who turns 15 this year.![]() Also, to college students on break (or soon going on break), enjoy your rest and relaxation (and safe journeys to Beth!) Okay, now on to the links. Yesterday afternoon we took our youth group to watch the boys basketball team in the playoffs. Something rather interesting (yet very sad) happened while we were there... A Story of Malice I've also posted a couple links to some music samples on my Ministry Site. For most of you, this is probably the first music you've heard come out of my new recording studio. I hope you like! Unexpected Places Every Good Gift If these files don't play properly, please let me know! The first song "Unexpected Places" is part of the presentation I'm putting together to take to churches starting in the fall. Well, this afternoon I'm going to Daniel's birthday party - we're having a bowling party (which he's been talking about for months!) Tomorrow we go to the nursing home, and I'll be preaching from Proverbs 25:13-14. And yet, how easy it is for us to find ourselves in a place where we share the negative or the sensational--because we know that others will perk up and pay attention to us and listen to our story. One of the difficulties in broadcasting in a media outlet that strives to be "positive" is framing life stories and the news in a way that is interesting and compelling--without stooping to be negative or sensational. Thanks for sharing your story. Doug Replied: Yep...the squeaky wheel gets the oil. ![]()
