Springtime Migration, and Other ExcitementIt's spring time, it's time to migrate. Yep. The Problem Site is on the move. For anyone who thinks I've disappeared off the map for the last little while, I really am still here - it's just been an unusually busy week.Monday I went down to Cape Elizabeth to work with Jonathan on figuring out how this whole migration process was going to work. We talked, we figured, we calculated, and we finally came up with a game plan. Which we worked on during the day on Tuesday. We set up the space where The Problem Site will be living, and I began making all the necessary modifications to the pages. When I got home, I discovered that the new versions of the pages were acting screwy. So I decided I needed to do something which I had planned to do "piecemeal" - I converted the entire site (all twenty-three games, plus the problem pages and the resource pages) to run off a MySQL database. That took most of Tuesday evening, Wednesday, and Thursday. Oh, and Wednesday I went to Kingfield to help run the scorekeeping software for the MVC math meet. In the midst of all of this, while waiting for files to upload/download, etc, I started a new blog: The Problem Site News. This is where I will post information and thoughts about the site. The blog is not yet linked in to The Problem Site - that'll happen when the new version goes online. Meanwhile, tomorrow morning I am speaking at chapel for the Christian Academy, and with everything going on, I haven't had a chance to prepare a lesson (guess what I'm doing tonight!). After chapel I need to spend some time working up quotes for a couple web design projects I've been approached about doing. Both of them are projects that I'm hoping to get approved and accomplished before summertime, and I go full steam ahead into camp and VBS ministry! Then tomorrow evening we'll "throw the switch" on theproblemsite domain, and the new version of the site should be visible to everyone by Saturday. By the way, my grandmother is in the hospital, has been since Sunday - she has the flu, a blood clot in the lungs, and possibly pneumonia. ![]() So. That was my week in a nutshell. How about everyone else? Beth - sorry to hear about the loss of your grandfather. And if I'd had a bit more free time this week...I would have come to see you play against UNE.Posted On Mar 30, 2006 at 3:01 PM
