MessageBox GraveyardGood morning!![]() Well, let's see...what's new in the life of Doug? (I know, you're wondering what the title is all about - I'll get to that a little later! )First, there's a new "bulletin" that's making the rounds on myspace: Quote:
Tom, of course, is the support team for MySpace (one of the most poorly designed yet popular websites in the universe). The bulletin, however, does not originate with Tom. It's a hoax that someone started. But everyone is reposting this message. Maybe it's just that I'm a computer programmer, but to me it seems very strange that no one stops to ask themselves: "If Tom tracks my online activity well enough that he knows when I open this bulletin, and he knows whether or not I repost it, then what in the world does he need to do something as stupid as this for?" ![]() Anyway, I didn't repost the bulletin, and my MySpace account is still there. ![]() For those who are in a computer/IT profession, or are knowledgeable about computers, might find the following site amusing: Worse Than Failure Particularly, there is a section of bizarre computer messages: Pop-Up Potpourri So, there's another flu bug floating around, and of course, I seem to have caught it. I felt pretty miserable Thursday and Friday (not feeling great today either). So, since Ben was here Thursday afternoon/evening/night, we just sat and watched LOST all evening. ![]() Then, on Friday, since I didn't really want to work on anything serious (after all, what client wants me to work on their software when I'm running a fever?? ), and since Ben and I had been looking at the "Pop-up Potpourri", and watching LOST, my feverish brain found a way to put those two things together, and I created a new website yesterday:The MessageBox Graveyard The premise of this site is, these are messageboxes that never lived long enough to make it into a software application. And there's a whole page of LOST messages. It was a good way to waste a day... Posted On Apr 7, 2007 at 4:24 AM
