Watch Out For Those SparksOur former residence was built in 1860. At the time it was constructed, it was directly across from the local Blacksmith Shop. I used to look out the window and imagine what that must have been like. All day long you could see the glow of the fire. You could hear, I'm sure the sound of the iron hammer, beating the heated iron into nails, horseshoes, or some other needed piece of equipment. From whatever angle you viewed this scene, one thing would be unmistakable, the sparks. Every time the blacksmith brought that hammer down, sparks would fly. It was unavoidable in the process of molding something of great use. It would seem that this may have been what Solomon pictured when he wrote Proverbs 27:17 NKJV As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. A while back I posted The Fellowship of Believers . Today I saw finer detail in that big picture. When brothers in Christ get together for fellowship, the sparks can start to fly. Keeping the fires lit afterward is the trick. An MK friend taught me the song Moto. It's a Swahali song that states Quote:
That is so often the case after a great time of fellowship. It reminds me once again that No Man is An Island. Now if I can just find the fuel to keep those flames burning. ![]() Posted On Nov 22, 2005 at 0:00 AM On Nov 23, 2005 Doug wrote: Quote:
I trust you mean that in a good sense...when most people say "the sparks start to fly", they mean it a very different way! ![]() Just another example of Hebrews 10:24, I guess. Oh, was there a particlar reason you underlined "un"? It seems a bit... onreasonable to me. ![]() Trent Replied: Creative sparks of imagination. Not frictiousous sparks. (is that a word?) Oh, you saw the underlining? I thought it would be unnoticeable. Hebrews 10:24 describes exactly what I meant. Missions conference kept me quite busy this weekend. But I suspect I will have the chance to get out to the patio deo recreo more this week. ![]() Adios
