Pickle Juice
My children and I have an ongoing conversation at many mealtimes. It begins something like this.Quote:
| If you take the seeds from a pickle and plant them, what will grow? |
The answer I am given would be considered correct (allowing that the seeds could grow). Their answer is

| A cucumber |
Now, I often feel it incumbant to challenge that reply. A seed from a pickle should produce a pickle. Am I right or am I right?
This foolishness does have a point.
What changes a cucumber into a pickle? .......................... Pickle juice?! Good answer!
We are like that cucumber.
Solomon put it this way Proverbs 23:7

Paul, in the New Testament said this
I Corinthians 15:33
Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” (NKJV)
Again, through Holy Spirit inspiration Paul penned this Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.(NKJV)
On a consistent basis I am forced to evaluate what I am soaking in. What am I reading? What am I watching on television? What am I listening to? Who am I listening to? What do I think about?
The epistle to the Philippians gives us a great recipe for "Believers Brine"
Phil 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on (soak in) these things. (NKJV)
A monastic existence is not the answer. It's not always healthy to "stew in your juices". But as believers we must remember that we are like pickles. We become what we soak in.
